Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow

The Right Choice

Administration

SS. Philip and James School has consistently focused on forming children in the faith in a loving and welcoming community, guiding them in their relationship with Christ, and providing a rigorous academic program to challenge all students to reach their potential. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of Catholic Education determines the curriculum guidelines for all AOP schools to follow.

The teaching staff is comprised of IHM Sisters and a dedicated lay faculty. The Chester County Intermediate Unit provides reading and math support, speech, and guidance services. West Chester School District provides a nurse four days per week and the parish hires a nurse for the fifth day. Parent and parish volunteers are welcomed to assist in various capacities.

SS. Philip and James School provides:

  • A quality Catholic education which includes daily religion classes and weekly Mass attendance to teach our children the Catholic faith and develop a life of virtue.
  • An extension of our school community to parent and parish volunteers to assist in operating the school. This participation includes:
  • A Board of Limited Jurisdiction to assist the principal in developing and implementing a Strategic Plan for future success.
  • A Home and School Association to plan extracurricular events for students and families, as well as keep parents informed and updated about school life and activities.
  • A CYO sports program that is available to all students in grades K-8.
  • The opportunity for parents to participate in an annual survey designed to ensure continuous improvement in areas such as Technology Infrastructure and Integration; Co-curricular, Extra-curricular, and Educational Enrichment; Communication and Responsiveness; and School Building, Grounds and Facilities.
  • A Prayer Partner program where our students in the upper grades are given the responsibility of praying for and guiding students in the younger grades.
  • A challenging academic environment and faith-based, Catholic education for students from Pre-K 3 through grade 8. Students do not have to be Catholic to attend the school. Discounted tuition and enrollment priority is offered to Catholic families who are members of SS. Philip and James Parish.
  • An integrated STREAM program, including a dedicated room for STREAM activities.

The school has been recognized as a 1990 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
